Beauty Secrets of Epsom Salt

Epsom Salt or magnesium sulphate heptahydrate is an inorganic salt containing magnesium, sulfur and oxygen; It was originated by boiling down mineral waters at Epsom, England.

It’s casually known to revive muscles and de-puff the skin. Some do not know that the magnesium and sulphate are absorbed through the skin and because our skin is porous, reverse osmosis takes place, which means toxins and excess fluids are drawn out of the skin as the goodness goes in.

Here are a few beauty tricks to try:

  1. Body Scrub It is an excellent exfoliator for the skin as it smooths and softens and eliminates rough patches. Use a handful of them along with some warm water and a soft washcloth.
  2. Facial Exfoliator Either use the Epsom salt with water only or mix them with your regular skin cleanser. Massage them into your skin gently and wash off with a soft washcloth and warm water.
  3. Detox Soak Add 2 cups of Epsom salt, 2 cups of baking soda. Soak for 15-20minutes.
  4. Hair Conditioner Get voluminous hair by using Epsom salt with your regular conditioner. Mix a handful with the conditioner and then apply to your hair. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes and rinse with warm water. Your hair will have tons of volume and shine.
  5. Foot Soak Epsom salt soothe aches and pains after a day in heels, they are an anti-inflammatory and will also help to reduce swelling and puffiness.
